Father, show me where I'm in bondage today. It was a simple prayer for the start of the first week of Advent 2010. It was an honest prayer. I wanted the revelation. And more importantly, I wanted the freedom that I know is available - the power and courage of a life lived without bondage to lust, fear or doubt. And Father answered. Clearly, powerfully and wonderfully. Listen in as I share the story.

Horse Training and Human Transformation
God's ground work with our hearts isn't so different from training a horse. He wants us to experience more joy, more usefulness, and more courage. And just like with horse training, He takes us through challenges, tough and sometimes scary places, to refine our trust in who He is and who He has predestined us to be. He's working patiently to desensitize the core of who we are, so that we become less and less affected by those things that ultimately have no power of us anyway.

Freeing Father or Manipulating God
An honest approach to the journey of Walking with God demands that we allow Father the freedom to interact with us however He knows is best.
Unfortunately, so much of what passes for good religious activity in Christianity today is nothing more than a sugar-coated attempt to convince God to interact with us in a manner of our choosing.
But if Father allows us freedom of conscience, shouldn't we allow Him the same? If we do, it's really the beginning of a relationship in which true love can flourish.

Talking Horse or God in the Barn
God doesn't just tell us things in Scripture and then expect us to believe them without any other evidence. He is very much engaged in this world and He brings His presence into the daily experiences of life, using the visible to explain and verify the invisible.
In this podcast I share a brief history of my experiences with family pets and explain how God recently spoke truth into my life through our horses.

Dangerous Silence
One of the scariest places in the walking-with-God journey is that moment when we approach God and simply wait in silence for Him to initiate communication with us. It's so vulnerable, so open to the enemy stepping in and taking advantage of what appears to be God's silence. We're afraid we'll find out that God doesn't speak; that He's not listening, that He doesn't care.
So, to avoid that, we fill our spirituality with religion - bible studies, looking up the "Greek", good deeds - all distractions to protect ourselves from the threat of silence.
Maybe it's time to go there, to go to that dangerous place of silence and see what happens.

The Dark Night of the Soul
Blessings in diguise. A way to freedom that we would never choose on our own, but would, if we could see the end from the beginning, most heartily embrace.
Walking with God includes walking in darkness. But we are never walking along. He is always with us to heal and bless. But sometimes, God must protect us from ourselves if He is to answer our own prayers for healing and growth.
Listen in as we discuss the blessings of the Dark Night of the Soul.

Suddenly
God has a lot of thoughts that are different from ours. Just like Jesus first came to this earth with an appearance, manner and mission that seemed so unpredicted, so God's providence today very often seems totally sudden and unexpected. But knowing that is a great encouragement to sit quietly watching our lives unfold with a prayer to understand His walk with us in every breath.Click here to listen or download.
